We are the Overstrand Orcas, a passionate team of young soccer players from the small coastal town of Pringle Bay in the Western Cape. What we may lack in resources, we make up for in heart, determination, and a love for the beautiful game.
For many of our boys, soccer is more than just a sport — it’s a safe space, a source of discipline, and a dream for a brighter future. However, our team faces real challenges. Most of our players come from underprivileged backgrounds, and we simply don’t have the funds to access the opportunities they deserve.
We are raising funds to provide:
- Specialized coaching to develop skills and confidence
- Proper soccer goals for structured training
- Quality soccer balls and equipment
- Basic training gear to build team pride and unity

Our Edu-centre
The Edu-centre opened in January 2021 with thirteen learners. Our venue was quickly outgrown as we grew not only in numbers but in physical size too. Using an online education portal was new to all of us, but we mastered the system and got to know our online teachers well.
As the year went by, we realised that we needed a new space where our children could run and have fun and a bigger area for our classrooms. Since then, we have moved from Betty's Bay and onto our dream venue on a small holding in Pringle Bay. We are surrounded by birds, bugs and beautiful fynbos. While we still have a small group of online learners, the majority of children have shifted back to a more traditional approach of education. We use a blended approach of curricula and our first group of Grade 11s have entered into the final phase of their school career, using an IEB curriculum, encouraging growth mindset and critical thinking through problem solving.
We have an average of 10 learners per grade allowing for individual attention for each learner.
We have Art, Physical Education and Drama classes during the day. After school we offer a wide extra-mural programme: Art Club, Drama Club, Chess Club, as well as Netball, Hockey, Soccer, Surf Club and Tennis in Kleinmond with a private coach. All learners are encouraged to become involved in an activity or two that they enjoy.
Our Edu-centre is a happy and caring space for all learners, who are nurtured and self-motivated to achieve their personal potential.
